If you've been around Julip any, or have followed the blog closely, you've probably realized we are adamant swaddlers. From Julip's first moments and with each and every shut-eye, we swaddle her- always! Some family members have referred to it as "putting her in her straight jacket" and other's say, "Wow, y'all really wrap her up like a burrito." And with each comment we smile, and continue to wrap her as usually. But now we're in a situation: Julip has more strength and intellect. She can now escape her straight jacket...clever little Houdini. So, of course, I have researched. It seems that many consistent swaddlers have found themselves in this same predicament. Sigh.
"Am I in trouble?"
"What is your solution?" you ask? Well, we don't know. We're open to suggestions. As of last night, we wrapped her, put her to bed, and once she broke free (around 4:40 am) we let her soothe herself back to sleep, arms free and all. It was successful. We want to wean her from swaddling... it's just not easy.
"No trouble, you're just super cute!"
Julip likes to be free in more ways than one. She loves bath time! It could be the warm water or the fun she has splashing, but something makes me think it's a combination of warm water, splashing, and being free of her clothes and diaper. I don't blame her! :)
All clean, Momma!
We hope you have a wonderful weekend, dearies!
with love,
the Jernigans, all three!

Well done little houdini. We didn't last long swaddling at all. But I've seen people just swaddle arms free before, at least until they learn a new houdini trick and kick the blanket off.
And she's pretty cute with all those ducks. She is one happy baby. (and almost 6 months, that's just crazy!)
