The 31st of October

Julip is at such a fun age right now! She totally understands pretty much everything that is going on in her little life. We get to experience so many firsts with her and it is pure delight to see excitement build in her eyes as she begins understanding simple life events... like Halloween. I know many people choose not to participate in Halloween festivities because it's dark and wicked and full of sugar, but I woke up on Halloween singing, "This is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made... ". On top of that, we have other reasons to celebrate on the 31st of October! Not only is it Reformation Day, but it's also my Gran's birthday and pretty close to Eloise's half birthday! We have much need for celebration on the 31st of October! What better way than dressing up in a costume, painting faces, and hanging out with friends!?

I was going to dress Julip up as a farmer... then I decided a Parisian would be very "hipster"... then I decided on a kitty cat, because she could actually get into that costume. We waited till 4:30 in the afternoon, right after her nap to throw together a little costume that would keep her warm and transform her into a kitty in under an hour. Thus, a quick tail, kitty ears, and black liquid eyeliner all came together to make Jubie the cutest black kitty cat on the block!

So many people asked us if we'd let Julip have candy... great question! As of now, if it's nutrient void, we'll pass on putting it in our bodies... However, we did decide that Julip could trade in her candy for some chocolate ice cream and pizza! So... would you rather have a few skittles and candy corn or ice cream and pizza?! :) I think that's a pretty great exchange, right?

We only went to a few houses, but little Julip had a fabulous night! She wore her kitty costume the next few days because she loved having a tail! Funny story: As I was beginning to make the ears to glue on her headband, I grabbed some scissors and said, "Ok, let's cut you some ears!" Julip grabbed her own ears with a frightened look on her face and asked, "You're going to cut my ears?" haha! So funny!

I hope as our girls grow I won't wait till the day of Halloween to make their costumes and that they will always have fun on the 31st of October!
