Welcome Home

Friends! It's been so long and I've missed you! With us moving and school and visitors and holidays, now has been my only break to write. Phew! It's good to be back.

Want to know how our move went? Well, we packed up and were ready to go by Saturday, June 25th. (Want to know a little secret? I packed up the entire house, every single box, on my own. Sometimes twice, when Julip would "help" me unpack them before taping them up, ha!) The other half of my secret, though, is that Dustin and three other helpful, strong men carried all the boxes down the three flights of stairs. Yes, it was a Saturday full of hard work. Can you believe they gave up their Saturday just to help us move? (Thank you, Joe, Sam, and Dave!) But, by 2 o'clock we were completely moved out and ready to hit the road.

Julip got to play with stickers while momma packed up the kitchen. Silly baby girl!

My car was packed to the limit! Yes, that is a vacuum cleaner, shovels, rakes. Oh, and a chandelier, christmas tree stand, and bike rack. It was our last trip to get the "leftovers". I was overwhelmed, exhausted, and, clearly, so excited!

Thankfully, this time we were only moving a mile away. Much easier than our previous state-hopping, 8 hour drive moves.  Good thing, too, because I was balancing our eggs in my lap! When we got to our new place, it was spotless and cool, plus a new dishwasher had been installed, and best of all, there was a "Welcome Home" gift basket from our landlord. It had freshly baked banana bread, snacks, soap for Julip, and other small necessary household items. While we were looking through our basket of goodies, two other neighbors brought us cookies and well wishes. It melted my heart. It is so nice to have such a thoughtful landlord and neighbors.

Eggs and a lemon gently balancing in my lap...while I drove to our new house. We had to leave our food (and friends) last time we moved. I was so happy to have everything this time around.

Isn't this just so thoughtful? People are so kind! We had already eaten half of the cookies. It was dinner and they were delicious!

I really do feel at home here. If you know Dustin and I pretty well, you know that we are borderline OCD about keeping our house nice and tidy. After living in a house full of boxes for the week prior, we were so anxious to get our house set up and finally relax. Also, Dustin's parents were coming for a visit over the holiday weekend so we were motivated to have our house ready by their arrival.

Little Jubie helping us sweep. Or swiffer.

Our peaceful, sunny bedroom before we moved our things in... I love the corner windows.

Literally, ten minutes before they walked in the door, I we unpacked our last box. I couldn't believe it, but our hard work and late nights had paid off. We were happy they were able to relax along with us in our brand new home. Don't worry, pictures to come soon.

Dustin mowed the yard...something he hasn't done in such a long time. He's my hard working man! :)

We think we might just stay here for a while.
love,
caro xoxo

Caroline! You have a fireplace! Does it work? And hardwood floors & good windows & neighbors...sounds/looks excellent. I can't wait to come over! Oh, and I need to learn more about your new job & how much it costs to get a farmers box.

Kate! I miss you! I couldn't figure out who "Kate Bliss" was until I remembered that is your middle/mom's name. So sweet! Yes, we cannot wait to have you (and Eric) over... a LOT! We're asking our landlord if he'll let us use the fireplace. He closed it off because of raccoons or something but maybe we can just get a screen. And I need a friend to share our extra veggies with. They have your name on them! :)
