Made by Hand

My, what gifts newborns get! As the due date was nearing, we were getting goodies pretty frequently. Well I say we, but I really mean she! Notices appeared in our mailbox saying a packaged had arrived for Julip, our unborn, but very alive child! Lucky girl, huh? But it doesn't stop there! Not only were they gifts for her, a lot of them were homemade...made by hand! My heart totally melted as I opened each gift for my sweet, soon-to-arrive, little girl! Some we already knew were on there way but never could have imagined how lovely they'd be...and others were complete surprises from long missed friends! And because I was so moved by your stitches and purls, I attribute this post to you! (You know who you are!)
Everything she has on was made for her...tis why she doesn't have much on at all! :) The hat here was made by her Aunt Becky Pearce! She actually made two of the same so she could wear them this year and next! The pink blanket, which I know you've seen a lot, was made by our dear friend Vanessa, who has a little girl Haley Kate! The pale blue and cream afghan was knitted by my dear Belhaven friend Lauren! and the turquoise blanket was knitted-each stitch and purl with love-by one of my best friends Marah (Mernah!)!

Here again you see Marah's blanket, but also her very adorable pink knitted socks! How cute! :) Very much Marah's style and now Julip's too! These tiny bloomers were made by Grandma Susu, and I must admit, they are my favorite! My mom is so creative! She can make anything!

See the soft blanket Julip's on? Her Aunt Vicki made this! I know we'll be using it to cuddle for many years to come! And Julip's monster friend is named Magy! Vanessa made this for her, too! And we are excitingly awaiting the stories that will be coming in the future of Magy's adventures that Vanessa will write! Haley Kate, Vanessa's daughter, has a monster also! How fun!
Julip is on a blanket that was hand stitched by a dear lady from Lakeland named Mrs.Gray and it has a jungle theme! (Julip is a little monkey!) And the blanket on her leg was made by Mary Beth, a friend here in Huntsville! see her name embroidered on the corner? The towel rolled up decorates Julip's bathroom usually, but her (real) Aunt Tammy embroidered it with bunnies! She is very crafty, too! and then, atop Julip's head is a bonnet that my mom made! It was originally a lace handkerchief from Ireland old grandmother brought me from one of her travels. I held it on our wedding day! Now it's made into a beautiful bonnet for Julip, but will be disassembled one day so she, too, can hold it on her wedding day! (And the process will be repeated!)
Here is a close up of the bunnies! How precious! (Julip is clearly hungry throughout her photo shoot! Mommy has to take your picture, Julibelle!)

One of our favorite ladies in the world, Robin made these sweet blanket for Juju bug! And we use them ALL THE TIME! They are great for tummy time and warm weather, because they are thin and big! and such fun colors and prints! Love them!

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed these beautifully crafted treasures that we will forever cherish and keep safe in our "baby chest"forever!

(I tried so super hard to make sure I didn't leave anything/one out! If you hand crafted something and it either slipped my mind (I am still recovering from pregnancy) or I simply didn't know it was made, PLEASE remind me! You'll get your very own post, I promise!)

P.S. My mom, Susan Ware, will take any request! She loves sewing, especially for babies! Bonnets, britches, and bloomers! or anything else you're mind can imagine! Let me know...she is always available for commissions!

Much love,
the Jernigan, all three!

What a great way to pay tribute to all the neat things people have made Julip. It seems like she's had some impressive loot. those last blankets are super cute. And, I love the booties!
