"It's okay, baby Ewaleese!"

Hi friends! I've been meaning to update y'all... but I have just been too busy smelling newborn heads and stealing kisses from my girls! :)

So many friends have asked for the birth story! No worries, it is coming soon. I am still trying to figure out how to put it into words.

These three weeks have gone by so fast. The number one question we get is, "How is big sister handling all the change?" I'd love to share about Julip's interactions with baby Eloise.

Our first family outing. We're crazy taking out a four-day-old baby but it was my birthday! :)

Daddy's three girls! (Eloise is in the wrap on my chest, ha!

So to be honest, I expected the worst. I thought I'd be protecting our tiny newborn from our curious and crazy toddler around the clock. Julip has utterly surprised me, to say the least. She has been such a great big sister and seems to be enjoying the big change.

So many funny captions come to mind when looking at this photo of the girls, ha.

Literally, all day long Julip says, "I wanna kiss hur headt." She loves kissing on her tiny sister. She wants to hold her and help me change her diaper and even nurse her. Some of the phrases I hear over and over again throughout the day are: "Baby drinkin melk." and "Baby poopy diaper. Change-er, Mommy." and "Baby lookin at you." (said when Eloise's eyes are open). Julip loves to tell me all about her baby sister!

My favorite interaction between the girls happened on our ride home from church. It was just us girls and Eloise was screaming her head off (hungry for some milk). Julip was quitely riding along and then I heard her say, "It's okay, baby Ewaleese! We're going home!" My eyes filled with tears and my heart just melted. It was so so sweet to hear baby Julip comfort baby Eloise... or Ewaleese as Julip calls her! :)

Here is a kiss we caught! :)

There are a few reasons we continue to keep our eye on Julip though. She loves sharing her things with baby Eloise. I have found almonds in her crib, bubbles by her head, and other random toys Julip is trying to give Eloise. Also, Julip will do whatever I do. For example, to soothe Eloise one time in the car I let her suck on my finger. Next thing I know, Julip has her finger in her little sister's mouth. The funniest thing though was that Eloise actually sucked on Julip's finger and stopped crying. How does the mothering instinct kick in with a two year old? It is fascinating!

 Here is the proof, ha!

Julip is trying to take Eloise's "fofo" (pacifier) so she can put it back in again... oh, brother!

Thankfully, we have had no accidents or bad behavior yet (oh, we know it's coming) from big sister towards little sister. Julip genuinely seems to love her tiny baby. I can't help but dream up pictures of the two of them holding hands running through our garden as older girls... they will be best friends! (If not by choice then by force, haha, just kidding.)

Sweet Julibelle getting some sister cuddles.

Julip "holding" her little sister. And suddenly, with no warning, she's done and let's go...

I love our baby girls!!! They're the best!

with love,
momma-of-two, caro

What sweet and precious pictures! I loved when we pointed to Eloise and asked Julip, "Who's that?" and she said, "Dave!". Hilarious. What adorable little sisters.

Love your stories!! They remind me so much of Allie and Hannah. Even the finger sucking!- except it was a nose, ha! Allie leaned in to comfort her hungry, screaming sister and give her a kiss and her nose was too close to Hannah's mouth. Sister latched on and started sucking. Allie's eyes got as big as saucers and she didn't move a muscle. I missed the whole thing because I was in the bathroom and my mom was with the girls! She said it was pretty funny. Good job, Mom, your girls are beautiful!!

You are blessed! Eva, in moments of excitement, nearly killed Selah twice in her first few days!

my sweet mommy moment happened driving down the interstate with 2 babies by myself as well. Newborn is screaming his head off and i'm on the verge of tears as well...all the sudden i hear from the back seat..."rock'a ages-cleff fo me..." something we sing to piper when she's upset and crying. the tears surely came then and i thanked the lord he made me a momma :)
