I'm here to say again... I cannot believe my little Julip is so old! She's nearly 2 years old. My, how these years have flown! And as of yesterday, she is 22 months old!
My little elf at the youth Christmas party!
This month has brought on a major change. My Julibelle no longer nurses- thus I am no longer the Dairy Queen (for a few months, at least). It truly is unbelievable. I never thought she'd give it up. I'm just so thankful she weaned herself without us having to push her. God is good and definitely answered prayers for a smooth transition. For those interested moms, I'll briefly explain: after spending a weekend where her grandparents took care of her during the day, she cut out one of her 3 nursing "snacks". After weeks of daddy taking care of Jubie while I was in night class, she eventually cut out her bedtime "snack". Then, one morning, I was waiting for her to ask for "mik" and she never did. We ate our normal breakfast. A few days following she would ask, I'd offer, and she didn't seem too interested. Hooray! A nursing-free momma and baby! It was a good, long ride! I wouldn't change a thing! :) I'm so thankful she got extra nourishment for so long!
Jubie did get sick, though. Like days after she stopped nursing. She's only been sick TWICE in her entire life (!!!), which isn't bad at all... but I couldn't help but blame myself in some ways (oh, motherhood blues). I felt like it was because she wasn't getting "liquid gold" anymore. But, it was only for a couple of days that she had a runny nose and cute but pitiful cough. She just slept a lot more and cuddled a lot more. It's good for her immune system, anyway! :)
So cute and so pitiful. Like Dustin's new, hip glasses?
She is so happy to be eating blueberry waffles! It's a great recipe found here! I just add the berries to the batter and don't make a whipped cream. She loves them! (For the adults, we get plenty of honey, of course!)
She's so funny- I put two waffles on her plate and she picked them up together like a sandwich to eat them. Silly Jubie! She ended up eating four waffles all by herself. :)
Recently, she has begged to sit on the counter while momma cooks. And she always asks for "bret" (bread). So we give her some toast to munch on. See her hand on the knife? Yep, those have been moved to the other counter space for now. Also, she's learned what the word "hot" means, if you know what I mean!
What a threatening look... ha!
Her pink cup is her milk cup. One day, I was drinking chocolate milk and she begged for some. I let her try it, and she loved it! Makes sense, right? To help her transition from her sweet breast milk, we give her very lightly sweetened (with honey) dark chocolate milk I make from baking cocoa, ha. She loves it! I'm just thankful she's getting calcium and antioxidants! :)
She's also been such a big helper lately! She can understand so much of what I say! I can ask her to find her cup, throw something away, close a door and she'll do it! She also likes to help me with any cleaning I'm doing. She'll "vacuum", mop, dust, (un)fold clothes. Yep, I'm starting her out early.
Helping momma spread around the dirt.
Julip also loves people more and more everyday! We recently went to the youth's Christmas party at church. Dustin and his coworkers planned the entire thing and it was a great hit! Julip loved seeing everyone and playing with their funny, tacky hats! (I don't think I can show faces of the students, but LOTS of people where there!)
Julip is being tickled by our buddy Andrew. He basically saved Dustin from insanity! He's a great volunteer and is so awsome with the boys!
My cute family! (Looky there on Julip's plate... I spy something orange. Carrots! She has been obsessed with them recently and I couldn't be happier!)
Such cuties! Especially Dustin in his red jacket and mismatched plaid shirt and bow tie! :)
I'll take any kiss from this little one!
I love this picture! So precious!
Hello there, little Julibelle!
She's also started leading us around. She'll hold our hand and pull us around the house. Sometimes she has something to show us, sometimes she just wants to take us in circles. Recently, she also started running... like full speed. Uh-oh, we're in trouble!
Walking with her papa.
Running around!
As far as talking goes, she's putting together two word phrases regularly. She'll say "Daddy phone" or "go o'side" or "momma bret". She also has been associating things around the house with either Dustin or me. She'll point to my sewing machine and say, "momma, momma" or she'll bring me Dustin's books and say, "daddy, daddy". It's so cute! She can pretty much repeat anything we say... except the word "please". She will not say please, but she always says "thank you"! She also cusses like a little sailor. When she says "sit" (which is all the time) she pronounces it with a heavy "h" sound, and we haven't quite figured out what she means when she drops the f-bomb. But, it is cute, nonetheless.
Everytime Dustin goes to work or out, Julip yells, "BYE BYE DADDY!" and insists that I put her in the window to watch him drive away. (Don't worry, I always have my hand on her... except in this picture, ha)
Look at her little feet. She's my ballerina! Relevé, plié, relevé!
This little girl makes us laugh each and every day! I cannot tell you how much I love her and enjoy her! :)
with love,
Caro, xoxo
P.S. As soon as I get through my last two exams and three more assignments, I'll be a blogging machine! :)
