Yesterday we celebrated three events in one day! October 31st marks the day of the
Protestant Reformation,
Halloween, and my dear
Gran's birthday! It's a very exciting day, to say the least.
Yesterday afternoon, after feeling guilty for not making Julip a costume, I decided it still wasn't too late. I work best under pressure with deadlines approaching fast so I figured it was nothing out of the ordinary. Dustin gave me the idea of what Julip should be and I got to work. Thankfully, it only took me 15 minutes to assembly the entire costume.
Our elaborate costumes.
I know you can hardly recognize us in our elaborate costumes, but Dustin and I are dressed as Cardinals fans! This is very appropriate because, if you haven't heard yet, we won the
World Series!!! It's basically like winning the Super Bowl for baseball but 1,000 times better! Can I just mention, we love being
Cardinals fans! (So much easier than being
Ole Miss fans :(...)
Who are the cutest on the block? These two!
And little Julip was the....are you ready?... the
RALLY SQUIRREL!!! Please check out the video if you are unfamiliar with the Cardinal's Rally Squirrel. Our friend/mission's pastor/Dustin's co-worker wrote the song for the Rally Squirrel. It was only appropriate that our little Jubie was the little Rally Squirrel. And my oh my, she was so cute!
I love them my Cardinal's fan and Rally Squirrel so much!
Our little trick-or-treater seemed a little sleepy!
In St. Louis, trick-or-treaters have to tell a joke in order to get candy. (Cute idea, huh?) And people are very serious about it. No joke, no candy. Some we used while trick-or-treating were, "What's brown and sticky?"...."A stick!" and "What do you call a cow with no legs?"... "ground beef!" ha! But the best one I heard all night was, "Why can't the Cubs go to the bathroom?".... "Because they don't have Pujols!" (That is the Cardinals star player, Albert Pujols, pronounced "poo-holes") haha! I would have given extra candy for that one.
I made the tail out of a sock and stuffed it...
and the ears were just cut out from brown paper bags with colored pencils.
All in all, we had a fun evening, a few trick-or-treaters, and great family memories.
Some of our very own youth group trick-or-treaters. But we actually took candy from them, ha! :)
and
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAN!!! We love you!!!
love,
caro, xoxo
P.S. Can you believe it's already November?
