Two Weekends Sandwiching ME

Early May is so exciting. You know why? My birthday is May 4th and Mother's Day is the second Sunday. For the past two birthdays/mother's days, it is like a two week long party at our house!

This is not the party at our house. This is the party in Dustin's office! Allegedly, the youth group boys "stringed" his space. We're on to you...

We started my birthday morning off with breakfast and coffee at City Coffee House & Creperie! If you come visit, we will take you here! As the name suggests, they serve Crepes! and Coffee!

Little lovely Julip and handsome Dustin (getting flashed to death) waiting for breakfast. Well, Julip's second breakfast. Like a hobbit. Dustin's feet are similar to hobbit's feet, too.

I always forget to take pictures of our food. This was the last bit of my crepe. And the lovely Miss Cholula. She's hott.

Then, before Julip could have a meltdown, we drove home to take naps. (Yes. Plural. As in, three naps! It was my birthday! I can do what I want!)  But after naps, we went to the ZOOOO! And enjoyed a lovely picnic of aged gouda cheese (yummy), organic dark chocolate (mmmm), fresh strawberries, apples, and grapefruit slices (nom nom nom), and Julip's crazy concoction of fruits and veggies!

I wish we lived at the zoo. Do you think they'd notice if we just pitched a tent?

Mr.Peacock couldn't help but show off his tail feathers. Yes, I'm jealous, okay? I added a peacock to my list of future animals for our small family farm. Can you eat peacock eggs?

This was weird. Julip made close friends with this strange fella. He was like nose to nose with Julibelle for minutes.

Then, Friday night we were invited to the Cardinals game by a fellow pastor at church. We were invited to the Party Suite with free food and drinks. Huzzah! They must have known it was my birthday!

What a handsome Cardinals fan man!

Our view from the suite. Oh, is that mustard smeared on the lens from my huge baseball game hot dog? Yes, we indulged. Yes, I got a tummy ache. Yes, I ate 5 brownies.

Yippee, Go Cards!

To continue on with the celebrations, I pulled the birthday card and got Dustin to go with me to TWO farmer's markets, The Maplewood Farmer's Market and The Tower Groves Farmer's Market. We got fresh eggs, fresh raw butter, and lots of treats to snack on. One of the markets is  sponsored by Schlafley Bottleworks, a brewery in town. So, yes, you get beer on tap while walking from stand to stand. This was a motivation tool I used to get Dustin to come!

Sweet Jubie and me at the market! She was so excited!

What did I get, you ask? WELL, I got loads of lovely things! Like 10 pounds of organic strawberries!

Hello, bowl of strawberries! or Erdbeeren for the German translation!

A blood orange tree from my momma!
Hello young blood orange tree. Where are your fruit? That's Dustin's office, too, btw.

More windosill herbs to grow! And many other sweet gifts like a homemade blueberry cake from my sweet friend Kate (who also babysat Julip for FREE when we went to the game AND invited us to the Farmer's Market... how stinkin' nice is she?) and some darling cards and generous monies from sweet family members. Oh, AND I got excused from taking all of my final exams! Ka-ching!!!

Hi there oregano, cilantro, basil, parsley, dying orchid, and lemon tree! Glad you're sitting in my window now.

Three unwanted gifts: A bad burn on my elbow from putting my arm in the stove, a ticket for a "parking violation" at the zoo, and another burn on my hip from rubbing against a hot pan.

No, that's not my hip... that's my elbow.

How old am I? I'll never tell. I love birthdays! and mother's days! and double weekends all about ME! I'm a sinner.

Love,
a older Caro, xoxo
