I love it when she cocks her head to the side :)
A week ago today, our little baby girl turned ONE! What a big day for our (now) toddler! We never thought we'd make it here!
The adult cake! Yummy!
We had a small party and invited our family to join us in celebrating her life. Julip's little friend Oliva let us borrow her adorable birthday dress, hat, bib, and bloomers. Julip was dressed exceptionally for the occasion!
Just guess how long that hat stayed on her head...
To coordinate with other's and Julip's nap schedule, we had her party at 4:00 pm, right after her afternoon nap. She's usually up and ready to play, but once she saw all of her family and the food, I think she was a little surprised, which is a good way to be on your birthday, right?
Mimi and Bobo came to party!
PawPaw and Muttie came to party!
And Susu came to party!
There was so much food! We had three cakes (if you include Julip's "fake cake"), chick-fil-a nuggets, a colorful fruit salad, a chocolate truffle tower, a cheese plate and nuts, Julep punch (cute, huh?), and chips and dip!
Julip had lots of decorations...
See those dresses hanging on the pie-safe? She used to fit into those... tear.
Yummy cheese!
The yummy spread and family in the background!
So what is a "fake cake"? It is simply a "cake" I kinda made up using pumpkin puree, spices, a little honey, and prunes, ha! The "icing" was strawberry yogurt. I figured if Julip doesn't even know what sugar is yet, she wouldn't miss it. And to all who are concerned that I am depriving her of a fun, sugary childhood, never fear. We, Jernigans, all have major sweet toothes (teeth?)... she will get plenty of sugar in her life!
Julip with her sugar addicts parents.
She liked her little cake, although, never seeing such a food, she didn't even know where to start. But after a little help, she got "icing" all over her arms, hair, face, and anything else in reaching range. This called for a mid-party wardrobe change. What princess doesn't change mid-party? Kate Middleton surely will.
"What is this, mom?"
Isn't that a precious party girl in a party dress?
And there it goes, all in her hair!
Picking at her little "cake".
Wardrobe change (and yes, the Ole Miss vs. Bama basketball game was on against my wishes, ha).
Along with the million hugs and kisses she received, she also opened many gifts! She got books, clothes, a cute hat and sunglasses, cards, and lots more! Julip told me to thank everyone for remembering her birthday!
All the gifts for baby Julip!
With this lovely February weather, we've already gotten some use out of the hat and glasses! :) So cute!
It was a day to be remembered for sure! My, how time just flies by... it's unbelievable!
with love,
Caro, xoxo

All so precious!!!
awwww. Happy Birthday little Julip :D
What a sweet party! She looks so precious in the pictures! I cannot believe she is already 1!!! I'd love to get your recipe for her cake. I might be interested in making one of those for Amara's upcoming birthday. :)
Darling! My little guy will be turning one this week. Crazy how time flies. I know everyone says it, but I just wish it could slow down, just a little bit. This age is so special.
Hope you have a great week!
