Julip loves using her tongue to make funny noises! I love it!
The loves of my life! Dustin cannot wait to get home everyday and hug on his girls!
Yes, you read that correctly! Julip is six months old today! (Do I always start off her monthly updates like this?) She is a little longer (that sounds funny) but just by a few centimeters. She's somewhere around 27'' and currently weighs 17 lbs! She is a heavy baby girl for this noodle-armed momma, which means her car seat is even heavier... which means we don't carry it anymore, just Julip! :)
Thankfully, hubby is not a noodle-arm! He's strong like bull! We walked around SAFE and CLEAN downtown Huntsville for our Sunday stroll.
Lots has happened this month: Julip has transitioned from being swaddled at every sleeping moment to now sleeping freely and peacefully. This change was rather smooth, much to my disbelief but sure relief! We usually found Julip in the exact spot we had placed her the night before when she woke up each morning. Now, we never know what we'll find. Most of the time, she's on her tummy. Sometimes she's squished in the corner of her crib. Occasionally she has crib railing marks on her little forehead or her limbs are hanging out of the crib. But nonetheless, she is sleeping, which makes all the difference in the world!
This is what I find each morning... a beaming baby beauty! What a great start to the day!
She can scoot around as she pleases. One day I was in the kitchen and looked to check on her in the living room. I couldn't see her and briefly panicked until I noticed she was under the couch slipcover. She can move about all by herself! Is crawling really the next step?! She travels either by rolling multiple times or by scooting backwards until she reaches her desired destination... it's rather cute to watch!
So this photo is showing you how she moved from playing with the toys all the way to the couch! She's smiling with great pride in her achievement!
She's still working on sitting up without support and can do it periodically! This weekend, most likely Sunday, we will introduce homemade organic rice cereal to her (yes, we're those people, ha!). Twill be interesting and documented, no doubt!
Learning to use her hands to prop her up...how sweet!
This weekend, we will also be leaving Julip with Mimi and Bobo for the day! This will definitely be the longest we've ever left her....sigh! But she's in trusted hands!
What a cool kid, huh? Mimi and Bobo gave her this fleece for future travels.
Rolling around before bedtime. I love it when she has this expression!
Other news: we bought our first box of diapers. Up until this point, we've been using the stock from generous givers. Needless to say, I've been researching cloth diapers! :)
Notice the big ham of a leg! Precious!
And lastly, my current favorite thing about Julip is her little hands. From the beginning, I've been fascinated by her hands, but they are even more expressive now! She reaches out for anything and everything. This includes my hair, Dustin's cheeks, her mobile, her toys, anything! While I'm nursing her, she will reach up and put her hand on my heart (MELT) or pull on my shirt... it is so sweet! I love her little hands. I love our little girl. She is already half a year old!
Little Belle reaching for the camera...
Julip playing on her beautiful handmade quilt made by Robin Edwards! Thank you so much! We love it!
Much love,
the Jernigans, again

Can you believe our girls are growing up?? I seriously don't know where the last 6 months have gone. I'm sure the next 6 months will go just as fast. So sad... Julip is such a doll and rolling over so much! How fun! Can't wait to see her again. Y'all have fun with the cereal!
